Adult Day Care Center

Adult day care centers support and help adults during the day. Individuals do not stay overnight or live at adult day care centers. They arrive for care in the mornings and leave in the evening. 

These are community centers designed for adults with other options for care at night. Most ADDC recipients have caregivers or family members who can help in the evenings.

Other individuals may not have caregivers to return to but have fewer needs at night than during the day. Sometimes independent adults will also go to ADDCs when their loved ones feel they're better off there than alone during the day.

Adult day care centers are intended to provide care and companionship to older adults with chronic health and aging problems, including dementia. ADDCs usually offer health, therapeutic, recreational, social, and other engaging services and activities. These can be great to combat loneliness and help older adults live fuller, healthier, and happier lives.

Adult day care centers can also provide respite for family members and caregivers who need a break during the day. These periods of respite can do wonders for caregivers and their relationships with their aging or disabled loved ones.

ADDCs are also less expensive than most in-home or facility care. They're a flexible, interactive option. And the best part is ADDCs are usually covered by Long-Term Care Insurance.
