Full Description

This is a health facility that provides medically related services to persons with a variety of physical or emotional conditions requiring institutional facilities but without the degree of care provided by a hospital or skilled nursing facility. This is care for stable conditions requiring daily but not 24-hour nursing supervision. The care is ordered by a doctor and supervised by registered nurses. Intermediate Care is less intensive than skilled care and usually needed for a longer period of time than skilled care. Virtually all LTC policies pay for intermediate care in an approved facility or sometimes in one's home.
