Alternate Care Benefit

An Alternate Care Benefit in a Long-Term Care Insurance policy provides the opportunity for the policy to cover benefits that might not be specifically outlined in the policy. Under this provision, the insurance company will consider paying for treatments, services, and supplies not specifically listed in the policy as long as it benefits the policyholder’s plan of care and be cost effective as well. This provision is placed in many Long-Term Care Insurance policies to cover items in the future that may not even exist at the time the policy is issued.
